Indonesian Australian Design Futures

This trip we didn’t have the opportunity to go to Bandung, which is a shame because we missed out on visiting Kineruku, (previously Rumah Buku), an important community library begun by Ariani Darmawan in 2003. There is an impressive collection of more than 4000 book titles, 1000 music CDs dan 1000 films. Everyone is welcome to use this space and there is a lovely reading room, but there is a membership system for borrowing. This library has a lot of English and foreign language titles including books I have never seen elsewhere in Indonesia. Ariani is a filmmaker, and the collection of films and film-related books is amazing.
